Cory Burton

Introduction

Cory Burton | Brown Belt

Cory runs our student intake process and assists in teaching both kids and adults BJJ classes. He has been part of Island Top Team since the beginning and brings an immense passion for sharing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with every person that walks through our doors. In 2024, Cory coached the kids’ team to a perfect day at the South Island Open Youth Jiu-Jitsu Tournament. Our 6 athletes won over 20 matches, losing none, with none of them giving up even a single point against them. All the kids took gold or double gold, and the vast majority of the wins were via submission. This is an incredibly rare accomplishment and reflects the incredible work he has done coaching our young athletes.

As a competitor Cory has worked hard to make his way to the top of the podium. He has won at the highest level of the sport in regional competition, taking gold in the Master 1 NoGi Expert (Brown/Black) division at Grappling Industries in Vancouver.

Cory’s martial arts victories include:
2024 Grappling Industries Vancouver Champion (Brown/Black Masters NoGi)
